The first floor is made up of an entry hall and great room, along with a laundry closet, bathroom and children’s bunk room. The space had to be planned very efficiently, since the cabin is only a little over 600 square feet, and it had to suit the needs of a family of four over summer and winter holidays.
The rotating screen adds privacy to a loft bedroom, while still allowing natural light and openness during the day. The eight upholstered panels of the screen also represent the eight phases of the moon.
the loft makes up the master suite and the office area. the family needed a small private office space , since the parents work from home during long vacations.
CABIN
conceptual design | red feather, co
The inspiration for the redesign of this approximately 650 S.F. vacation home started with the idea of illumination, and the full moon. A major element this vacation home lacked was light, it had very little natural light, or effective interior lighting.
The design subtly reflects the concept through soft curves, textures, color palette, and the addition of large vertical windows to the space. To tie in some native american accents, patterns, textures, and full moon symbolism were brought into the design, to further connect the space to its local heritage.
