VERSE HOTEL

conceptual design | boston, mass

The design of the verse hotel and restaurant was inspired by the local romantic poets and authors of the latter half of the 19th century, like edgar allan poe, nathaniel hawthorne, charles sprague, or ralph waldo emerson, as well as the proud historic literary and intellectual traditions of the Boston area.

Style inspiration is drawn from the luxurious victorian interiors of the late 19th century. Specifically inspired by poetry and literary tradition are: industrial metal forms from typeset and antique printing presses, curving lines relate back to calligraphy, luxurious leather upholstery based on embossed leather book covers, and the contrast of black text on a white page to inspires the color palette.

Overall there is a moody romantic atmosphere, with shadowy reading nooks, and writing desks used as focal points.
